COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS
INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

Australian National University ANUEach year the ANU College of Business and Economics (the College) may award up to ten (10) half tuition scholarships known as the College of Business and Economics International Graduate Scholarship (“the Scholarship”).

The Scholarships are highly competitive awards available for international students (“the scholar/s”) who are applying for admission to a Graduate Diploma or Masters coursework program offered by the College for the first time.

One scholarship will be awarded to a student from Latin America, Europe, Asia, South East Asia and Eurasia while the remaining five scholarships will be open to applicants from all regions of the world.

The Scholarship may be offered in either first or second semester, as defined in the University Calendar.

VALUE
The Scholarship provides sponsorship for half (50%) of the international student tuition fee for up to one year of a Graduate Diploma or Masters program offered by the College.

Please note, that the Scholarship does not cover any application and deposit fee, the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) premium, fares to and from Australia, the payment of reading and study materials, living expenses, accommodation or any other costs associated with studying.


ELIGIBILITY
The Scholarship shall be available to an applicant who:

  • Is an International Students as defined under the terms of the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000. Dependants of the staff of diplomatic or consular missions are also eligible.
  • Has received an offer of admission into a Graduate Diploma or Masters by coursework program offered by the College to commence in teaching period for which they are applying for this award.
  • Will commence a Graduate Diploma or Masters by coursework program within the College for the first time.

APPLICATION
There will be a call for applications each year by the ANU College of Business and Economics. Applicants must complete all components of the application and provide supporting documents wherever necessary.

SELECTION
A Selection Committee will be appointed and will make a recommendation for the award of this Scholarship based primarily on academic merit. The Selection Committee will consider all nominations and select scholars in order of academic merit based on achievements in their past studies.

Selection will also take into consideration the country of citizenship of the applicants. One Scholarship each year is intended for a student from each of the following identified regions: Latin America, Europe, Asia, South East Asia and Eurasia. The remaining Scholarships (up to five awards each year) will be open to applicants from all regions of the world.

Consideration may also be given to any other factors which the Selection Committee considers to be appropriate and in line with the College?s strategic direction and priorities.

The Scholarship shall not be awarded if, in the opinion of the Selection committee, there is no candidate of sufficient merit. The College reserves the right to make no awards in a given year, to vary the number of awards or to make an award/s at other times in exceptional circumstances as determined by the Dean of the College (or nominee). The College reserves the right to revise the awards from time to time.

CONCURRENT HOLDING OF OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS / AWARDS
A scholar must obtain permission from the Dean of the College (or nominee) to hold any other type of award or scholarship concurrently with an ANU College of Business and Economics International Graduate Scholarship, however the Scholarship will not be tenable with any of the following:

  • an Australian Government award of equal or greater value;
  • any academic award or scholarship offered by the ANU of equal or greater value; or
  • sponsorship by any organisation of equal or greater value.

Failure to declare and obtain permission to hold another award or scholarship may result in the scholar being required to refund the Scholarship to the College, as determined by the Dean of the College (or nominee).

CANDIDATURE
The scholar will be required to enrol full-time in a Graduate Diploma or Masters program offered by the College for the semester during which the offer was made. The Scholar must remain enrolled in this program for the full duration of their Scholarship.

Requests to vary program choice may be considered by the Dean of the College (or nominee).

As the award is only available for international students, scholars who obtain Australian permanent residence will cease to be eligible to hold the award from the end of the semester in which they receive permanent resident status.

COMMENCEMENT & DEFERRAL
Successful applicants are normally expected to take up their award offer in the semester for which it was offered. The Scholarship will commence from the first day of the first teaching period the scholar is enrolled in during in the academic year for which it is offered, unless otherwise stated in the letter of offer or approved by the Dean of the College (or nominee).

Any requests for deferrals of the Scholarship must be approved by the Dean of the College (or nominee). Subject to College approval the award may only be deferred for a maximum of one semester.

The Scholarship may be offered in either first or second semester, as defined in the University Calendar.

SCHOLARSHIP DURATION
The scholarship is available for two (2) semesters of full-time study, subject to satisfactory academic progress and continued enrolment in a Graduate Diploma or Masters program offered by the College.

ATTENDANCE
The scholar is expected to be in attendance at the University at the commencement of the first teaching period and to remain enrolled full-time during the University teaching periods or semesters. If a scholar is absent from the University for an extended period of time through illness or for any other reason, approval must have been sought and obtained from the College for „program leave? from the Program. It is also essential that the Dean of the College (or nominee) be notified and, where relevant, approval for suspension of the Scholarship sought.

LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE
The scholar is expected to achieve at least an average of 70% in the first semester of the tenure of the award, in order for the Scholarship to be continued in the following semester of study. If this academic progress standard is not met then the College will terminate the Scholarship.

In the event the minimum standard of performance is not met, the scholar may appeal to the Dean of the College (or nominee) to discuss continuation of the Scholarship.

TERMINATION AND WITHDRAWAL FROM PROGRAM
The Scholarship will terminate at the conclusion of the scholar?s first two semesters of enrolment in the program for which it has been awarded or on the date on which the scholar ceases to attend the University other than for approved absences, whichever is the earlier.

The University may terminate the Scholarship before this time if the scholar does not fulfill their obligations or meet the required level of performance. This determination will be made by the Dean of the College (or nominee).

INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE
A student will not be able to retain their scholarship while on exchange to another institution.

TAXATION
It is the scholar?s responsibility to determine the taxation implications of the award, if any, which apply to his/her individual circumstances.

ACCOMMODATION
It is the scholar’s responsibility to obtain residential accommodation. Information on student accommodation and the application form is available from the University Accommodation Services. Information may be found on the Web at: http://accom.anu.edu.au

PUBLICITY
It is anticipated that scholars may be requested to participate in publicity of the Scholarship from time to time. This may include publicity in the country of residence or of schooling.

On occasions, the scholar may be contacted by the College to participate in activities including, but not limited to, an interview, a photograph, and a formal Scholarship presentation ceremony. The College may also request written responses from the scholar which can include, but is not limited to, a summary of basic profile information, descriptions of University experiences, and a note of appreciation for the Donor who has funded their Scholarship prize.

The University may publicise the Scholarship by publishing the names of the scholars. Arrangements for such publicity will be made through the ANU College of Business and Economics Marketing and Development office.

The scholar is subject to The Australian National University Act 1991 as amended, and to the Statutes, Rules, Regulations and Resolutions of the University.

The award does not carry any commitment by the University for future employment. Students must comply with student visa regulations and are required to obtain a permission to work visa from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) prior to obtaining any employment.

  4. hi I’m zahra, I come from Indonesia. I really want to study abroad, but I have problem, I can’t speak english fluently. I think it’s just problem, if does not become a problem, I’m definitely very happy :)
