The Erasmus Mundus programme is a co-operation and mobility programme in the field of higher education which promotes the European uni0n as a centre of excellence in learning around the world. It supports European top-quality Masters Courses and enhances the visibility and attractiveness of European higher education in third countries. It also provides EU-funded scholarships for third country nationals participating in these Masters Courses, as well as scholarships for EU-nationals studying at Partner universities throughout the world.

The partners of this master aim at gathering the European specialists in Performing Arts: intercultural approach to theatre, opera, dance, circus and street performances.

The Master consists of theoretical lectures, seminars, training courses, workshops and a final dissertation that give the student the opportunity to approach the spectacular events, their identity, their roots and their transformations in a changing society, with a focus on the European context.

The program aims at giving the students a variety of tools in relation with the critic, the production and the creation of a contemporary performance. The historical, social, anthropological, aesthetic and semiotic contexts are particularly taken into account. The program covers analysis, practice, organisation approaches of Performing Arts.

The joint degree awarded by the master is recognized by all the members of the consortium.

Who may apply?
Everyone who has completed a university (or equivalent) program of 180 ECTS or prove an artistic or professional experience which will be evaluated by the jury of the consortium.

When?
You can send us your application between the 1st october 2009 and 15th january 2010 at the latest.

Which documents should you provide to apply?
A copy of your passport with a picture.
A certified copy of the required degree for the enrolment: at least a University Bachelor (3 years)

The degree must be accompanied with either a list of the marks you got during your last year of study, the grade level or the GPA (Grade Point Average)
- OR the equivalence in the scientific fields with a translation in French or English.
- OR for the candidates who valorise professional experience : employers` attestations

A certificate that proves your language level:
- French OR English for master 1 (INDISPENSABLE !!!)
- French, German, Spanish OU English for master 2

A typed motivation letter written in French or English mentioning the choice of master 41 university.
Two recommendation letters in French or English, written by lecturers from the university of origin. For the professional applicants, the letters are written by scientifics, or by your immediate superior.
A typed studies plan, justifying the enrolment to the Master (15,000 characters, in French of in English):
either about theoretical research, or about practical creation. The originality of the project and the commitment of the student will be particularly appreciated. Four bibliography references are accepted.
A Curriculum Vitae of your activities with NO GAP and ATTESTED (employers, universities, etc) from secondary school/high school or at least the last 5 years.
The application form completed, dated and signed.

How are the applications selected?
The student must:
fulfill the admission criteria;
have the linguistic competences (B1 according to the reference levels established by European Council in the « Common European framework of reference for languages » or equivalent). Certified copy of language test results;
have study results which prove academic excellence and/or show evidence of strong motivation;
have work experience or professional qualifications in Performing Arts.

How much does it cost?
7000€ for students from a third country, 3500€ for the European students for each academic year.

What does the fee cover? Tuition fees for all universities of the mobility program, work facilities (libraries, computercenters), participation to social and cultural activities, help for practical problems (residence, etc.), pedagogic assistance.

Are there any scholarships?
The European Commission offers scholarships to:

+ students from a “third country” (all countries of the world with the exception of the 27 EU Member States, Icealnd, Norway, Lichtenstein) These scholarships are awarded to the best students on a competitive basis. The scholarship covers your travel and living expenses and tuition in Europe for the full duration of the course:
2-year Course = 42,000 €

+ scholars (academics) from a « third-country » who want to carry out research and teaching assignments and scholarly work for an Erasmus Mundus Masters Course.
3-month stay = 13,000 €

+ The program is available for European students according special modalities of the Erasmus mobility in the UE (including f.i. students who have previously got Erasmus grants). Some universities or institutions may also deliver grants.

PROGRAM AND MOBILITY
What is the practical organisation?
From the academic year 2008-2009.
Two academic years of 60 ETCS each.

The program includes:
a first-year-program of 60 ECTS in one of the four first-year-universities
a specialisation program (2nd year) in one or two universities (60 ECTS or 2×30 ECTS) divided in a practical and a theoretical fields, both including specific and complementary modules.

How can you personalize your programme?
The structure of the program, individualized, changes according the student profile. The student chooses a first-year university and then follows his/her program in 1 or 2 universities according to the special fields that he/she wants to study in particular: semiotic or anthropological studies, creation, training courses, etc. The program choice must be justified in the motivation letter of the application form.
