Mentoring Scholarships 2013
Within the framework of the „Stipendien- und Betreuungsprogramm STIBET“ for international PhD-students and postdocs, promoted by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and funded by the “Auswärtiges Amt”(AA), the Office of International Affairs of the LMU has the possibility to award mentoring scholarships in 2013.

Aim:
Thanks to these resources we can individually support three extraordinarily qualified international PhD students can be supported individually during the summer semester 2013.

The aim is to integrate excellent international doctoral candidates or postdocs into the international activities of their respective supervisor in the department.


Prerequisite:
These scholarships reward the active tutoring of the PhD-students. Supportive tasks, such as mentoring and assisting, should contribute to the international exchange.

The scholarships are awarded as scholarships by the Office of International Affairs of the LMU.

The funding is limited up to six months at the most. The maximum amount of € 400.00 per month goes in line with the hourly rate for graduate assistants.

Students who have been funded already by this program in 2012 (teaching/research assistantship or mentoring scholarship) or getting a scholarship by the DAAD cannot be considered.

Informal applications for these mentoring scholarships can only be submitted by the supervising professor.

The application must consist of the description of the planned function of the PhD student, the approximate scope of mentoring time and of the candidate’s CV.

Selection criteria are the financial need and economic circumstances of the scholar as well as excellent academic performance. The supervisor should evaluate the candidate’s suitability for this scholarship.

Those students who have already got funded in the academic year 2012 or who are receiving a scholarship by the DAAD cannot be considered.
