The Steve Vai Guitar Scholarship was created to honor innovative guitar legend Steve Vai and will be awarded in Fall 2012 to an intermediate or advanced student (US or non-US citizens) enrolling in the Associate of Arts in Performance (Guitar) program who demonstrates overall outstanding musicianship, and the potential for developing their own individual sound or unique voice on the instrument in any style or genre.

The scholarship is applicable for students enrolled in the Guitar performance program only, and may not be transferred to “nonperformance program” emphases (Audio Engineering, Music Business, Independent Artist, Guitar Craft, or Film) within an AA degree.

Award
$5,000.00 tuition credit ($1,250.00 for the first four quarters of the program as long as the recipient maintains satisfactory progress). Awardee must maintain enrollment at 12 units (fulltime status) during the full length of award period. Failure to maintain enrollment and satisfactory academic progress in AA (Guitar) program for the full duration of the scholarship may result in withdrawal of the award.

Requirements & Checklist:

  • Scholarship Application.
  • Newly-enrolled AA (Guitar Program) students only. Open to US citizen and non-US citizens.
  • Submit a video recording (DVD format only) of you performing three (3) songs in any genre on the electric guitar. It is required that this include two (2) live ensemble (band or duo) performances, and one (1) guitar solo performance.

    AM MAGEZI RICHARD A male age of 26 and a Ugandan by nationality and I have got you by the use of web and I request you kindly to assist me because am in Uganda and am looking for student finance aid and I was studying in the last three years due to the earlier death of my farther when I was just two years and I managed to look my school fees while studying below are some of the following problems which stopped from continuing are as follows:

    Early Death of my parents i.e. they died when I was six years of age and i tried to push my self up to where am now and even aim not reached a good situation which I wanted to be.
    Chasing me daily because of school fees defaulters also make to dropout of school because two things at once they disturbed my brain.
    Lack of money for some basic needs like Exercise books, ball pens, reams of papers e.t.c.
    Born lonely also make difficult in my growth and it affects my Education and
    And lastly which i have forgotten is my father died because of this disturbed which is (AIDS) and as you know it is common in Africa and as you know in past years like 2000- 2005 we lost so many people Uganda and I was born when i was safe at time and i thank God up to now is the one protect me in this nation and if you also you support me in those problem so that they can be solved.
