A total of 5 Santander Scholarships are available to students from all countries except from Northern Ireland, Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland. The Scholarships are for Postgraduate Master’s or Undergraduate study in any subject offered by the University for the 2013-14 academic year. These scholarships are only available to students who are coming to Northern Ireland to study.
The University of Ulster is proud to be part of the Santander Network of Universities and grateful to Santander for the provision of these scholarships which were established in June 2011.
OPEN Scholarship
3 x £5,000 Scholarships available to study full time on any undergraduate Bachelors, or postgraduate taught Masters Course at Ulster
Am I Eligible?
- You should hold an unconditional offer for:
- A full-time taught Postgraduate Master’s course or
- A full time Undergraduate course or
- The Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Plus or Standard course and progressing to one of the above awards
- For fees purposes you must not be a national of Northern Ireland, Great Britain or the Republic of Ireland.
- You must not be in receipt of any other Scholarship/Bursary outside of the University of Ulster.
The scholarships will be awarded to students who have been made an unconditional offer. This includes students who have been made an unconditional offer to study on our Pre-sessional EAP courses and who hold a conditional offer to either an undergraduate or postgraduate course. In this case the Scholarship will not be awarded until a student has successfully passed and completed the Pre-sessional course.
Ulster Final Year International Scholarship
1 x £5,000 Scholarship available to a current final year undergraduate international student to continue study on a postgraduate taught Masters course at Ulster.
Am I Eligible?
- You should hold an unconditional offer for a full-time Postgraduate taught Master’s course.
- For fees purposes you must not be a national of Northern Ireland, Great Britain or the Republic of Ireland.
- You must not be in receipt of any other Scholarship/Bursary outside of the University of Ulster.
Ulster/Chinese Partner Scholarship
1 x £5000 Scholarship for a student from one of our Chinese partner institutions to come and study at Ulster.
Am I Eligible?
- You should hold an unconditional offer for:
- A full-time taught Postgraduate taught Master’s course or
- A full time Undergraduate course or
- The Pre-sessional EAP Plus or Standard course leading to one of the above awards
- You must be a current student of one of our Chinese partner institutions (see list of Chinese Partner Institutions)
- You must not be already studying at Ulster.
- For fees purposes you must not be a national of Northern Ireland, Great Britain or the Republic of Ireland.
- You must not be in receipt of any other Scholarship/Bursary outside of the University of Ulster
The scholarships will be awarded to students who have been made an unconditional offer. This includes students who have been made an unconditional offer to study on our Pre-sessional EAP courses and who hold a conditional offer to either an undergraduate or postgraduate course. In this case the Scholarship will not be awarded until a student has successfully passed and completed the Pre-sessional course.
Value, Terms and Conditions
- Each Scholarship has a value of £5,000 which will be awarded for one academic year.
- The Scholarship is set against your tuition fees.
- If you are an EU student the balance of the Scholarship will be paid directly to you.
- If you are paying full international (overseas) fees this Santander Scholarship will not cover all of your tuition fees.
- The Scholarship does not cover living costs.
- The Scholarship does not include living expenses.
- A scholarship cannot be deferred to a later year.
- Providing you meet the eligibility criteria you may apply for more than one type of Scholarship however you cannot be awarded more than one Scholarship type in any competition round.
- The Scholarship will only be awarded for a course of study offered at the Belfast, Coleraine, Jordanstown or Magee campuses.
Criteria
These Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the information that you provide on your application form.
How to Apply
Eligible applicants should complete the relevant Scholarship application form and return it to santander@ulster.ac.uk by Monday 8 July 2013.
Selection Procedure
A Selection Committee will meet week commencing 15 July 2013 to select the Scholarship recipients.
When completing the Scholarship application form you will be asked to provide the following:
- Your personal details (Part A);
- Answers to four questions (Part B) in relation to your career goals, leadership abilities and why/how you think you will benefit from a Santander Scholarship
Notification of Results
The winners of the Scholarship will be informed in writing by email by Friday 26 July 2013. We are unable to inform unsuccessful applicants. If you do not hear from us by the end of August, please assume your application has been unsuccessful.
The decision of the Selection Committee is final.
