London Metropolitan University UKWe are pleased to announce that London Metropolitan University is offering five Postgraduate Research VC Scholarships (MPhil/PhD).

For 2013/14, the following VC Research Scholarships will be offered:

Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities
The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities is offering 4 x Fees-only Scholarships covering fees only for successful applicants for the equivalent of up to three years full-time or six years part-time, subject to successful progression. Only Home/EU applicants are eligible. Applicants should not currently be registered for a postgraduate research degree. The four areas of research are:

Scholarship 1 - Area Studies
Applications are invited in two thematic areas: Changes in European Working Lives/Classes and Work, Migration and Discrimination

Scholarship 2 - Social Policy
Applications are invited in two areas: Child and Woman Abuse Studies and Criminology

Scholarship 3 - Media, Communications and Cultural Studies
Applications are invited in the areas of Community Media, Film and Television Studies, Communications and Subjectivity, and Subcultures, Popular Music and Social Change

Scholarship 4 - Education
Applications are invited in the areas of Gender and Education, and Equalities/Social Justice in Education, in particular in relation to higher education or early years.

Faculty of Life Sciences and Computing

Scholarship 5 - Life Sciences and Computing
The Faculty of Life Sciences and Computing is offering1 x Stipendiary Scholarship covering fees plus an annual stipend/living allowance for the successful applicant for up to three years full-time subject to successful progression. The scholarship will include a requirement of up to 6 hours teaching per week during term time. Home/EU and International/non-EU applicants are eligible subject to UKBA restrictions. Applicants should not currently be registered for a postgraduate research degree.

Please Note: All Scholarships are only available for students who are not currently registered for a postgraduate research degree. All Scholarships are subject to regular review through the assessment of successful progression by the relevant Research Student Progress Group (RSPG).

Applicants should specify on their application forms which scholarship they are applying for and they may also propose a supervisor(s). The University’s database of supervisors can be found here

Completed application forms and fee status questionnaires should be emailed to: vcscholarships@londonmet.ac.uk

and should include ‘VC Scholarship Application’ in the subject line/box of the email.

Please Note: The application deadline date is 1st October 2013 for February 2014 start.

Applications will be reviewed by subject specialists. Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed. Interviews will likely take place in late October or early November 2013.

Due to the high volume of applications, it will not be possible to provide individual feedback. If you have not heard from us by 15 November 2013, you should assume that on this occasion you have not been successful.
